Community Mobilizer Job Description

The Community Mobilizer plays a pivotal role in implementing, monitoring, and reporting on field projects. This includes engaging with community members, farmer groups, government authorities, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with project standards and adoption of best practices. The role requires training farmers, digitizing project data, mapping trees using the Tree Planting Area Locator (TPAL) application, and monitoring progress. The Community Mobilizer ensures timely and appropriate use of resources, adherence to safeguarding protocols, and protection of organizational assets, including vehicles, computers, and monitoring equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobilize and train targeted farmers groups on project activities.
  • Conduct Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) meetings and document outcomes.
  • Support farmers in signing Livelihoods and Carbon Development Agreements (LCDAs) and digitize records for the project data hub.
  • Train farmers on agroforestry practices and monitor adoption and compliance.
  • Organize and document seedling distribution and map tree planting progress using TPAL.
  • Collect and manage complaints and feedback through the Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) system.
  • Promote climate-smart farming technologies for food and tree crops.
  • Assess local tree nurseries and conduct re-greening initiative trainings.
  • Support the development of field monitoring standards in collaboration with the M&E Officer.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including community leaders, government officials, church, and civil society representatives.
  • Ensure proper use of budgeted resources for all project activities.
  • Adhere to World Vision safeguarding protocols and ensure organizational asset protection.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Forestry, Agroforestry, Natural Resource Management, Community Development with a focus on livelihoods, or Agriculture-related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in community work.
  • Ability to engage effectively with local communities, government authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in the local language and understanding of local geography.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NGO Code of Conduct.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Mandatory attachments: CV, ID (both sides), certificates, and reference letter from local chief.
