Principal Officer Competition Management

Job Specification

The Principal Officer Competition Management will operate under the guidance of the Deputy Director. Key responsibilities include:

1. Reviewing the competition and tariffs regulatory frameworks for the ICT sector in Kenya.
2. Developing suitable Tariff Cost Models for enforcing tariff regulations.
3. Participating in periodic market studies and analyses in the ICT sector.
4. Assessing competition in the communications sector to define relevant markets and identify competition concerns.
5. Investigating anti-competitive practices and concerns in the ICT sector.
6. Reviewing market competition to designate dominant licensees and propose legal and regulatory remedies.
7. Drafting regulatory safeguards, guidelines, and market reports for a liberalized ICT market.

Person Specification

To qualify for this position, a candidate must have:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Applied and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business-related fields, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
2. Master’s degree in Applied and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business-related fields, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
3. At least eight (8) years of relevant work experience in the public or private sector, with three (3) years in a supervisory role.
