Position: Accountant – Fixed-Term Contract

Purpose of the Role

The Accountant is responsible for managing field accounts payable, reconciling financial records, and supporting monthly and annual closings. Working with the JD Edwards Enterprise system (JDE) and ICRC’s Resources Integrated Solutions (IRIS), the role supports delegated field missions and ensures financial accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation in line with international accounting standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify invoices from field delegations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and record accounting entries in JDE/IRIS in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure correct bookkeeping and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile bank and cash accounts in IRIS/JDE regularly.
  • Conduct integrity checks on financial records and account balances.
  • Ensure that all accounting documentation is audit-ready and complies with ICRC standards.
  • Identify anomalies in records and propose practical solutions to supervisors.
  • Participate in monthly and annual financial closing procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to ICRC’s financial policies, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Match vouchers for supply chain goods and process adjustments to clear open receipts.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and consolidate balance sheet accounts for multiple field sites.
  • Compile and consolidate the List of Accounts for Reconciliation and Confirmation (LARC).
  • Prepare detailed financial reports on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis as required.
  • Upload all validated vouchers and supporting documents to Microsoft Azure.
  • Handle any other finance-related duties as directed by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards (JDE).

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with data modelling tools such as Erwin or Orbus is an asset.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages like French, Spanish, or Arabic are an advantage).
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational ability, and attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
