Position Overview
The Assistant Manager – Capacity Management & Business Continuity will report to the Manager – Service Monitoring and Availability. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all capacity and business continuity plans related to KRA’s automated business processes. This role is critical in ensuring that the Authority’s systems run smoothly and securely, with minimal disruptions to service delivery.
Terms of Service
- Contract Type: Permanent & Pensionable
- Probation Period: 6 months
- Remuneration: Competitive, as per KRA salary structure
Key Responsibilities
- Review and maintain the IT service continuity plan in line with KRA’s business continuity policies.
- Monitor infrastructure utilization by collecting performance metrics and identifying underutilized or overutilized resources.
- Implement and monitor business continuity strategies, including test drills and reviews after disruptions.
- Document and update IT business continuity plans, test results, and improvement suggestions.
- Support infrastructure solution design and assist in the procurement processes for IT equipment and services.
- Identify technology needs and contribute to the development of technical specifications and terms of reference.
- Ensure timely circulation of audit findings and oversee the implementation of recommendations.
- Produce regular management and performance reports, highlighting areas for improvement.
- Respond to user support requests and coordinate with relevant teams for resolution.
Requirements for Appointment
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or any IT-related field from a recognized institution.
Work Experience
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role.
Additional Qualifications
- A management course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in capacity and availability planning.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging IT technologies and their application in a business environment.
Technical Competencies
- Deep understanding of application, systems, storage, and database monitoring.
- Expertise in disaster recovery, business continuity, and capacity management tools.
- Familiarity with system architecture, network design, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and server operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and BI tools.
Certifications
- IT Governance certifications such as ITIL or COBIT.
- At least one of the following: MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, Linux/UNIX, or IBM certifications.
- Membership in a relevant professional body and a practicing license (where applicable).
Preferred Additional Training
- Project management certification (Prince II or PMP).
- Business Continuity Management (BCM) training.
