Job Purpose

The Assistant Sales/Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in driving branch profitability, delivering excellent customer service, and managing operational efficiency. This is an ideal role for candidates seeking relationship manager jobs Nairobi with a focus on insurance sales Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Branch Profitability & Performance

  • Assist in developing and executing strategic sales plans for General Insurance (GI) and Medical insurance.
  • Drive branch growth by managing loss ratios, expense ratios, and ensuring revenue targets are met.
  • Champion renewal business, lead weekly renewal meetings, and support new business generation and lead acquisition efforts.
  • Manage premium collections and enforce credit policies to optimize financial performance.

2. Client and Intermediary Relationship Management

  • Recruit, onboard, and train a high-performing team of Independent Agents.
  • Foster long-term relationships with clients and intermediaries to grow the branch’s portfolio.
  • Implement motivation and reward programs to drive agent performance and retention.
  • Develop a robust customer and agent engagement plan, including client visitations and appreciation events.

3. Compliance, Control & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to risk control frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Verify compliance of intermediaries prior to onboarding.

4. Customer Experience & Service

  • Ensure quotations are delivered on time and meet agreed turnaround times (TATs).

5. Marketing, Promotion & Business Development

  • Promote insurance products within the branch’s region through strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the region.
  • Support the Group’s integrated financial services strategy by promoting cross-selling opportunities across Life, Investment, and Banking products.

6. Claims Liaison & Complaints Resolution

  • Act as the liaison between customers and the claims department, ensuring smooth processing and resolution of claims.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proven track record of driving performance in insurance sales Kenya.
  • Sales and marketing expertise with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong relationship management and client service skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and office administration capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management, compliance, and operational controls.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Business-related degree, e.g., Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).
  • Professional qualification in insurance (ACII or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a busy sales environment within the insurance jobs in Kenya market.
  • Experience managing sales teams and optimizing branch profitability.
