Job Description

The Chairperson of the Internal Audit Committee provides independent leadership and strategic oversight of the ODPP’s governance, risk management, and internal control systems.   • Lead performance evaluations of the Audit and Risk Committee and guide continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure efficient, well-governed committee meetings and encourage active participation from all members.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Committee, the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Head of Internal Audit, and external auditors.
  • Ensure timely preparation and circulation of accurate committee meeting minutes.

Required Qualifications

  • Kenyan citizenship.
  • At least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in a relevant professional field.
  • Membership in a recognized professional body in good standing.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience at senior management level in one or more of the following areas:
    • Audit and assurance
    • Financial management or accounting
    • Risk management
    • Legal practice
    • Public procurement
    • Civil society or governance-related work
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic oversight, and governance expertise.
  • Strong understanding of public sector operations, financial reporting, and auditing standards.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity.
  • Must not be a current or former employee of the ODPP, nor have engaged in business with the ODPP within the last two (2) years.
  • Must not be a holder of a political office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualifications in audit, finance, governance, law, or risk management.
  • Previous experience serving on audit committees or boards in public institutions.
