Job Description
This Communications Consultant role is positioned within the Mission Support and Innovation Unit and reports to the Chief of Mission under the direct supervision of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Risk Manager, in close coordination with the Regional Public Information Officer.
The consultant will lead the production of counter trafficking visibility materials for a joint IOM–Kenya Airways campaign. The assignment focuses on delivering professional, ethical, and inclusive communications products that raise public awareness about the risks of human trafficking and clearly communicate reporting and response actions. Key Responsibilities
- Produce a high-quality awareness video (1:30–2:00 minutes) in line with IOM and Kenya Airways standards, showcasing counter trafficking efforts and survivor-centered messaging.
- Ensure the video is optimized for in-flight entertainment systems, airport terminal screens, and digital platforms, supporting IOM employment objectives in media and visibility.
- Design an informative poster highlighting the dangers of human trafficking and clear actions to take when identifying a potential victim or experiencing trafficking.
- Develop a business card design for Kenya Airways travellers, providing accessible referral information and emergency contacts related to trafficking response.
- Integrate strong gender, diversity, equity, and inclusion considerations across all communications outputs.
- Apply donor visibility, branding, and corporate communications standards consistently across all materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to refine messaging, visuals, and distribution approaches.
- Perform additional communications and visibility tasks as assigned in support of IOM Kenya programmes.
Deliverables and Performance Indicators
- One approved counter trafficking awareness video meeting United Nations and partner communication standards.
- One approved poster for display in airport terminals and public spaces.
- One approved business card design supporting trafficking identification and response.
Expected Timeline
- First Deliverable: Draft video, poster, and business card submitted by email by 2 January 2026.
- Final Deliverable: Approved video, poster, and business card submitted by email by 9 January 2026.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in Communications or a related field with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in Communications or a related discipline with at least seven years of relevant professional experience.
Professional Experience
- Proven experience in digital communications and social media for humanitarian or development organizations.
- Strong background in corporate writing, editing, and strategic messaging.
- Experience managing donor visibility and compliance communications.
- Demonstrated ability to produce counter trafficking or protection-focused visibility materials.
- Prior work experience within the United Nations, NGOs, or other international organizations.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Photography and videography skills, including filming and post-production editing.
- Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity in humanitarian communications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in fast-changing environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with multicultural teams.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency may be assessed through written and oral evaluations during the recruitment process.
