Job Description

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and coordinate community health initiatives across Kenya. The Community Health Program Manager will design, implement, monitor, and evaluate health programs that align with national health goals and St John’s strategic objectives.

This role is suited for a dynamic leader with a strong background in public health and a proven track record in program development, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and donor reporting. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the execution of community health programs in line with organizational and national health priorities.
  • Lead health promotion campaigns, community engagement activities, and capacity-building workshops.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and donor-funded health projects to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor health volunteers and field teams to deliver impactful outreach services.
  • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of all health-related projects, preparing comprehensive impact reports.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with government health bodies, NGOs, and local communities.
  • Represent the organization in health forums, networks, and policy discussions relevant to community health.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Nursing, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing community health programs or health-based NGOs.
  • Excellent knowledge of Kenya’s healthcare systems, county-level health programs, and MoH frameworks.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and proposal writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international donors or humanitarian health partners.
  • Certification in M&E, program planning, or health information systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and under pressure.
