Community Mobilizer Job Description
The Community Mobilizer – THRIVE Project is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project interventions related to Local Value Chain Development (LVCD), livelihoods, and resilience initiatives. This position ensures the effective mobilization of communities, technical support for project activities, and timely reporting on project performance. Candidates exploring Community Mobilizer vacancies in Makueni County will play a key role in planning, supporting, and tracking interventions that enhance local economic recovery and climate-smart agricultural practices.
The role requires collaborating with local stakeholders, farmer groups, and government authorities, ensuring the integration of cross-cutting themes, and supporting farmer capacity building. It also involves monitoring, documentation, and reporting of project progress while ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation of Local Value Chain Development (LVCD) interventions and cross-cutting project activities.
- Participate in preparation of work plans, budgets, and activity-level implementation schedules.
- Support project quality assurance (PQA) through monitoring visits and reporting on livelihoods and resilience initiatives.
- Collaborate with relevant ministries, partners, and local authorities for integration and high-quality project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance on identifying viable on-farm and off-farm value chains, including market research support.
- Mobilize and train communities, farmers, and producer groups on LVCD interventions, climate-smart agriculture, post-harvest management, and transformational leadership.
- Facilitate capacity building of partners and farmers and support their linkages to financial tools and market opportunities.
- Ensure effective monitoring, reporting, and documentation of project activities, including progress tracking, performance data entry, and success stories.
- Support farmer record digitization and performance tracking in collaboration with community resource persons and stakeholders.
- Promote adult and child safeguarding during project implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in community-based livelihoods and resilience/food security projects.
- Resident of Makueni County.
- Excellent communication skills in English and the local dialect.
- Proficiency in MS Office and email systems such as Lotus Notes or Outlook.
- Ability to build community capacity and work effectively in cross-cultural environments.
- Motorbike riding skills with a valid license.
- Mandatory attachments: CV, national ID (both sides), academic certificates, and reference letter from the local chief.
