Job Description

The Driver will be responsible for operating and maintaining official vehicles to support the Authority’s transportation needs. The role includes ensuring vehicles are kept in excellent mechanical and physical condition, performing basic maintenance checks, and maintaining accurate records of all trips. This position is key in promoting safety, reliability, and efficiency within the Directorate of Finance and ICT.

As part of the transport and logistics support team, the driver will assist with official duties, ensure timely conveyance of staff and materials, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism while on the road. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate official vehicles assigned by the Authority safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, both interior and exterior, at all times.
  • Keep up-to-date work tickets and logbooks for all vehicle movements.
  • Submit regular reports on the performance and condition of the assigned vehicle.
  • Report mechanical issues, defects, and any accidents promptly to supervisors.
  • Ensure all vehicles are in proper mechanical working condition before and after each trip.
  • Carry out basic vehicle maintenance checks, including oil, fuel, and water levels.
  • Adhere strictly to traffic regulations and the Authority’s transport policies.
  • Support official errands and administrative transport duties as assigned.
  • Promote safety, punctuality, and integrity in all driving operations.

Required Qualifications

  • At least a mean grade of D+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Occupational Trade Test II Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Valid driving license for the relevant class of vehicles.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct (renewable every two years).
  • Defensive Driving Course Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven driving experience in a reputable organization.
  • First Aid Certificate (at least one week) from St. John Ambulance or any recognized institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in government, public sector, or corporate transport departments.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics and preventive maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with staff and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, discipline, and reliability on the road.
