Job Description
The Driver II position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of government vehicles assigned by authorized officers. This role is essential in supporting official duties, transportation of staff, goods, and documents, and ensuring compliance with road safety and public service regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Driving government vehicles as authorized and in accordance with traffic laws.
- Ensuring the safety and security of passengers, goods, and the assigned vehicle on and off the road.
- Maintaining accurate daily work tickets and vehicle movement records.
- Ensuring routine servicing and timely maintenance of the vehicle.
- Conducting daily checks on cooling systems, oil levels, electrical systems, brakes, and tyre pressure.
- Detecting, reporting, and documenting vehicle defects promptly.
- Maintaining cleanliness and proper condition of the vehicle.
- Reporting accidents promptly and following up on police abstracts.
- Ensuring vehicle inspection is up to date and insurance documents are valid.
Required Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) or an approved equivalent qualification.
- At least two (2) years of proven driving experience.
- Valid driving licence free from current endorsements for the relevant vehicle classes.
- Valid First Aid Certificate of not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or another recognized institution.
- Passed suitability test for drivers conducted by the Ministry responsible for transport.
- Valid Clearance Certificate from the National Police Service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving within government or institutional environments.
- Strong understanding of defensive driving and road safety practices.
- High level of discipline, integrity, and professionalism aligned with public service commission jobs.
