Job Description

Kenya Maritime Authority is seeking qualified candidates to fill five vacant Driver positions within the Finance and ICT Directorate. Drivers at KMA are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of staff and materials while maintaining assigned vehicles in excellent working condition.

The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations across various departments by facilitating mobility and logistical efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Authority vehicles to transport staff, guests, and materials as required.
  • Conduct routine inspection and maintenance checks on assigned vehicles to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report any mechanical faults or required repairs promptly to the Transport Officer.
  • Ensure proper cleanliness of the vehicle interior and exterior at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and service schedules.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations, road safety standards, and Authority policies.
  • Support logistical operations during special events, workshops, or field missions.
  • Assist in loading and offloading goods or documents as required.
  • Ensure vehicle documentation (logbook, insurance, inspection reports) is current and compliant.
  • Perform any other driving-related or assigned administrative tasks in line with KMA’s operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • A valid Kenyan driving license with classes B, C, E.
  • A minimum KCSE mean grade of D+ (plus) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
  • At least three years’ driving experience in a reputable organization or public institution.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics and preventive maintenance.
  • Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili languages.
  • Strong understanding of road traffic regulations in Kenya.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid Certification will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working as a driver within a government agency or regulatory body.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated punctuality, integrity, and high standards of professionalism.
  • Familiarity with vehicle log management and reporting tools.
