Duty Manager – Nursing

Avenue Healthcare facility is seeking a skilled and dedicated Night Duty Manager – nursing to join their leadership team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a qualified nursing professional to oversee crucial night shift operations and ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Job Overview:

The Night Duty Manager will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all operational activities during night shifts, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, and maintaining quality patient care standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Oversight:

• – Supervise all night shift activities, including nursing, administrative, and support staff
• – Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
• – Address issues promptly, escalating to senior management when necessary
• – Investigate and report accidents or incidents
• – Maintain equipment and service uptime of >99%
• – Implement robust enterprise risk management practices

2. Patient Care:

• – Monitor and maintain quality standards in patient care
• – Collaborate with nursing staff to address patient needs
• – Assist in patient transfers and manage high-risk cases

3. Emergency Response:

• – Serve as primary point of contact for nighttime emergencies
• – Coordinate response efforts and implement emergency protocols

4. Staff Management:

• – Provide leadership and support to night shift staff
• – Conduct regular rounds to assess staff performance
• – Manage workload and staffing levels
• – Assist in staff development through mentoring and training

5. Communication and Collaboration:

• – Facilitate communication between night staff, departments, and management
• – Collaborate with senior managers to address cross-functional challenges

Requirements:

• – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (mandatory)
• – Valid Nursing Council of Kenya license
• – Current certification in BLS, ACLS, or ATLS
• – Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in a managerial position
• – Experience managing large teams
• – Proven ability to implement policies and procedures
• – Strong customer focus and results-oriented approach
• – Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• – High ethical standards and reliability
