Job Description
The Economic Policy Analyst II role is an entry-level position within the government’s economic policy and planning framework. The selected candidates will work under the guidance of senior officers to collect, analyze, and forecast economic data relevant to fiscal policymaking. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze macroeconomic, revenue, expenditure, and exchequer data to support the development and review of fiscal and macroeconomic policies.
- Evaluate tax remission and exemption requests under various fiscal incentive schemes.
- Monitor and forecast government revenue and expenditures.
- Prepare monthly budget outturns and assist in budget implementation tracking.
- Maintain and update comprehensive fiscal and macroeconomic databases.
- Monitor implementation of macroeconomic reforms and their alignment with national priorities.
- Support the management and analysis of the Government’s balance sheet, including coordination with the Central Bank of Kenya.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for appointment to the grade of Economic Policy Analyst II, an applicant must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines from a recognized university in Kenya:
- Economics
- Economics and Statistics
- Economics and Mathematics
- Economics and Finance
- Actuarial Science
- Or an equivalent qualification
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Kenya’s macroeconomic policy framework or public finance management systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, STATA, or SPSS.
- Ability to interpret economic data and prepare technical reports.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills.

- Basic Salary: Ksh 41,420 – Ksh 57,230 per month (CSG 10)
- House Allowance: Ksh 9,600 – Ksh 16,500 per month
- Commuter Allowance: Ksh 5,000 per month
