About the Role

The finance officer will support the financial management functions of the college by implementing approved financial regulations, policies, strategies, and plans. The role also involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budget and cost controls, preparing reports, and ensuring financial transactions are properly documented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement financial regulations, policies, strategies, and plans.
  • Implement budgetary and cost control measures.
  • Maintain books of account and financial records.
  • Implement internal financial controls.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements and submit them to relevant institutions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records of the college.
  • Prepare payment vouchers and support financial transaction processing.
  • Participate in the collation of financial estimates and determination of aggregate expenditure.
  • Maintain records relating to government grants and other donor funds.
  • Prepare management and statutory reports, including final accounts.
  • Maintain records of statutory deductions and remittances.
  • Manage petty cash.
  • Participate in revenue collection processes.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the academic and professional requirements specified by Kenya Medical Training College for appointment to this level.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with an Accounting or Finance option.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an Accounting or Finance option.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with an Accounting or Finance option.
  • An equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
