About the Role

The Fire Fighter will be part of an emergency response and community safety team responsible for responding promptly and safely to emergency calls and minimizing their impact. Key Responsibilities

• Respond immediately and safely to emergency calls and requests for assistance.
• Deal with emergencies as directed while working effectively and efficiently as a member of a disciplined team.
• Minimize distress and suffering during emergencies, including providing first aid care.
• Establish and maintain the confidence of members of the public.
• Provide general fire safety advice and guidance when requested.
• Educate community members about fire risks and hazards.
• Assist with service initiatives, programmes, and strategies aimed at reducing fire calls.
• Identify workplace health and safety issues and take appropriate action to minimize or eliminate hazards and risks.
• Maintain the physical and medical fitness required to perform firefighter duties.
• Keep firefighting and emergency equipment ready for use, including cleaning, repairing, and testing equipment according to approved standards and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of local streets, roads, and buildings within the fire station response area.
• Complete basic paperwork and routine administrative duties, including recording relevant information.
• Participate in continuous training through lectures, exercises, practice drills, and other training activities.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the level of responsibility and expertise as required by the Chief Fire Officer.
• Ensure personal safety and the safety of others at all times.

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Education: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent with a minimum grade of D+.
• Age: Between 25 and 40 years.
• Fire Training: Formal training in Fire Science.
• Firefighting Knowledge: Working knowledge of firefighting equipment and apparatus.
• First Aid: Knowledge of first aid and CPR methods.
