Job Description

The First Officer will serve as second-in-command (SIC) in the cockpit, assisting the Captain in operating aircraft safely and efficiently. The role involves active collaboration with crew members to maintain high operational standards, adherence to safety procedures, and compliance with all aviation regulations and company policies. This position is critical in supporting Kenya Airways’ operational excellence, passenger safety, and service reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate as the second-in-command and support the Captain in flight operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with cockpit crew, cabin crew, and ground staff to ensure safe and efficient flights.
  • Maintain compliance with Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with air traffic control, ground staff, and operational teams.
  • Participate in pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight duties as assigned, ensuring all operational and safety checks are completed.
  • Proactively monitor aircraft systems and flight parameters, ensuring operational safety and reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) issued by KCAA.
  • Minimum of 250 flight hours (excluding simulator hours) required for employment eligibility.
  • At least 200 flight hours (excluding simulator hours) to qualify for interview.
  • Valid KCAA Class One Medical Certificate.
  • KCAA English Proficiency Level 4 or above.
  • Instrument Rating, Multi-Engine Rating, Performance Rating A, and Gas Turbine Rating.
  • High school education with at least C- in Mathematics, English, Physics, or general sciences.
  • Minimum height requirement: 160 cm.
  • Kenyan citizenship and right to work in Kenya.
