Fleet Operations and Safety Advisor Job Description

The Fleet Operations and Safety Advisor will report to the Director of Global Fleet Management and will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of fleet management and safety practices. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible vehicle operations across World Vision National Offices and response programs. The Advisor will provide technical guidance, strengthen operational procedures, and drive continuous improvement in fleet and driver safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and operational fleet management support, including the development of safety systems and operational procedures.
  • Support National Office and Response Fleet Managers in workforce planning, training, and capacity building.
  • Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives for fleet operations, including risk assessments and accident investigations.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate fleet safety and management training programs across multiple locations.
  • Engage with stakeholders to build a culture of fleet safety, share best practices, and provide operational guidance.
  • Support strategic planning for fleet operations, aligning practices with WV policies, regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge management systems, document lessons learned, and facilitate global information sharing on fleet operations.
  • Oversee operational metrics, reporting, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with SSR teams, regional offices, and international partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of proven experience in logistics, fleet management, or operational safety within complex national or international organizations.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or Risk Management.
  • Proven senior-level experience in operational fleet management, change management, and safety program implementation.
  • Project management experience with formal qualifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing safety systems, training programs, and accident reduction initiatives.
  • High proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages such as French is advantageous.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time and work in high-stress environments when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in humanitarian operations, procurement, supply chain, or logistics management.
  • Familiarity with fleet management tools, operational reporting, and compliance standards.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Capacity to implement change management strategies and promote a positive fleet culture.
