Job Title: Fraud Analyst – Digital Risk & Financial Crime Detection

• Position: Full-time
• Location: Nairobi, Kenya (occasional travel to Uganda)
• Department: Risk, Fraud & Compliance

Your Mission – Prevent Fraud, Protect Entrepreneurs

As a Fraud Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of 4G Capital’s financial systems. You will monitor transactional data, detect suspicious patterns, and lead fraud investigations to protect both the company and the customers we serve. You will work closely with product, operations, and compliance teams to enhance fraud controls and uphold transparency.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze customer transactions and behavior to identify fraudulent activity and emerging threats.
• Investigate fraud cases, document findings, and support enforcement of internal controls.
• Utilize or help improve fraud detection systems and data tools.
• Report on fraud risks to regulatory bodies including CBK and UMRA as needed.
• Maintain accurate fraud logs, records, and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
• Participate in building internal awareness on digital fraud trends and preventive practices.
• Collaborate with teams across support, operations, and finance to mitigate risks effectively.

What We’re Looking For – Your Skills & Experience

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Statistics, or related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in fraud detection or risk analysis within financial services.
• Proficient in Excel and SQL for analyzing large data sets and identifying trends.
• Strong understanding of fraud risk environments and reporting regulations in Kenya and Uganda.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity across departments.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) principles and financial crime prevention.
• Experience using fraud detection platforms or systems (e.g., ACI, SAS, or custom-built tools).
• Exposure to digital lending fraud dynamics, particularly in mobile money ecosystems.
• Familiarity with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus.
