The British Government is hiring a Head of Strategy, Assurance and Results to lead a team of experts working across the British High Commission (BHC) in Nairobi on strategy, assurance, and results.
Duties:
Team Leadership:
- – Lead a motivated team by setting a culture of inclusion, learning, and high performance.
- – Line manage three direct reports and oversee a total team of eight.
- – Ensure staff are clear on delivery expectations and support their skill development and career growth.
- – Represent the team in high-level meetings and the Kenya Country Board.
Strategic Oversight and Planning:
- – Oversee and promote key processes and products, such as finance reports, compliance dashboards, risk, and results products.
- – Support the implementation of the Country Plan and the Strategic Partnership.
- – Support teams during key pressure points and commissions, and deputize for senior leaders.
- – Share best practices and lessons across the mission and with wider FCDO teams.
- – Manage the Programme Board, ensuring inclusivity and relevance.
- – Manage central assurance processes and commissions, including management assurance processes and audits.
Programme Support:
- – Ensure excellence in programme management, commercial performance, risk, and programme financial management.
- – Advise teams on PRoF guidelines and engage on compliance/non-compliance.
- – Ensure teams have the right support for field visits and lead quality assurance for programme design and reviews.
- – Support policy teams and programme leads to achieve results and deliver value for money.
- – Identify and engage with Centrally Managed Programmes and develop oversight mechanisms.
- – Develop a pipeline of upcoming support required from START and proactively engage teams.
- – Coordinate and work closely with team programme leads (Deputy Team Leaders).
- – Support ongoing assessment of and advice on programme capability.
Requirements:
Essential:
- – At least 3 years of leadership experience, including in challenging environments and with broad dossiers.
- – At least 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
- – Experience of engaging internationally, often on complex and sensitive matters.
- – Strong programme management experience.
- – Experience of working across diverse teams, being flexible and able to adjust.
- – Ability to understand and interpret complex financial, risk management, and results data.
Desirable:
- – Strong knowledge of the PRoF rules.

Additional Information:
- – Permanent position, 36.25 hours per week.
- – Salary: KES 770,630.03.
- – Start Date: 2 September 2024.
