Their network of smart, decentralized cold chain solutions ensures product freshness, reduces post-harvest losses, and improves market access for underserved value chains such as fish and poultry.
Position Overview:
The Impact & Data Trainee will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and measuring initiatives that create positive social impact for smallholder farmers, fisherfolk, and traders. This position focuses on collecting and analyzing data to ensure effective program delivery and improve outcomes for farmers, while supporting the company’s mission of creating a more efficient and transparent supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Collection & Impact Measurement:
- – Assist in designing and implementing systems to track and analyze the impact of Keep IT Cool’s initiatives
- – Develop and maintain databases to store and organize impact-related data
- – Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability
2. Research & Analysis:
- – Conduct field research to understand the challenges faced by smallholder farmers and fisherfolk
- – Analyze collected data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
- – Support data-driven decision-making by providing insights to the management team
3. Program Support:
- – Contribute to the development of social impact programs by providing data-driven insights
- – Assist in creating monitoring and evaluation frameworks for new and existing initiatives
- – Help identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring program success
4. Reporting:
- – Prepare regular reports on project performance, outcomes, and key learnings
- – Create visually appealing presentations and infographics to communicate impact results
- – Assist in drafting impact stories and case studies for internal and external stakeholders
5. Collaboration:
- – Work closely with the Partnerships & Communication team to ensure that data supports advocacy and awareness efforts
- – Liaise with other departments to gather relevant data and insights
- – Participate in cross-functional team meetings to share findings and contribute to strategic discussions
6. Continuous Improvement:
- – Stay updated on best practices in impact measurement and data analysis in the AgriTech sector
- – Propose and implement improvements to data collection and analysis processes
- – Contribute ideas for new impact initiatives based on data insights
Qualifications and Skills:
- – Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Data Science, or equivalent; OR equivalent Diploma with 2 years of working experience
- – Strong understanding of data collection and analysis methodologies, preferably in rural/agricultural contexts
- – Genuine interest in social impact, rural development, and agricultural sustainability
- – Proficiency in data management tools (Excel, Google Sheets) and basic data analysis software
- – Excellent communication skills for translating complex data into clear, actionable reports
- – Ability to work in rural settings and interact effectively with local farming communities
- – Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- – Basic understanding of statistical analysis and research methodologies
- – Familiarity with GIS tools and mapping software is a plus
- – Fluency in English and Swahili; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage
