About Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR)

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is an independent National Human Rights Institution mandated to promote and protect human rights across the country. Since its establishment, the Commission has built a strong reputation for excellence in human rights advocacy, monitoring, research, and public education. KNCHR plays a critical role in strengthening justice, advancing constitutional freedoms, and safeguarding human dignity across Kenya.

As one of the leading human rights organizations in East Africa, KNCHR contributes significantly to national policy development and international human rights engagement. The Commission works closely with government institutions, civil society organizations, academic bodies, and global partners to ensure that human rights principles are integrated into governance, policy-making, and development processes.

This makes KNCHR one of the most sought-after institutions for human rights internships in Kenya, especially for individuals pursuing careers in governance, law, public policy, international relations, and social justice.

Through its Internship Programme, KNCHR invests in nurturing new professionals by providing practical exposure to human rights programmes, investigations, research initiatives, and advocacy work. The programme plays an important role in building a strong pipeline of future human rights professionals and advocates.
