Job Description
The Medical Officer provides comprehensive medical care to patients by diagnosing illnesses, treating medical conditions, performing clinical procedures, and supporting preventive and rehabilitative health services. Key Responsibilities
- Undertake first-on-call duties, including clerking, investigating, and managing patients.
- Review patient cases and accurately document recommendations.
- Conduct outpatient clinics and assist in theatre procedures.
- Perform emergency surgeries and life-saving interventions as required.
- Collaborate with medical specialists across wards, theatres, and clinics to deliver quality care.
- Handle medico-legal duties, including completing P3 forms, attending court sessions, and performing postmortems.
- Carry out medical examinations and prepare detailed medical reports.
- Train and supervise interns and medical students during clinical rotations.
- Participate in outreach programs and community health initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Registration Certificate with the KMPDC.
- Valid practicing license from KMPDC.
- Training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
- Professional indemnity cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to medical practice.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
