Job Description
Kenya Maritime Authority is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Office Assistant. These roles are essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the Authority’s offices by providing general routine office support, maintaining cleanliness, preparing refreshments, and performing messenger duties.
Office Assistants at KMA play an integral role in supporting administrative and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of offices, equipment, and other apparatus to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment.
- Collect and dispose of office waste appropriately, ensuring cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Dust office surfaces and maintain habitable office conditions at all times.
- Move and arrange office equipment, furniture, and supplies as required, ensuring proper orderliness.
- Provide internal messenger services, including dispatching letters and other documents as needed.
- Set up meeting venues in a professional and timely manner.
- Keep an updated inventory of kitchen equipment and related supplies.
- Prepare and serve tea and refreshments for office staff and guests.
- Perform additional office support and messenger duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum mean grade of D+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili languages.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in office support roles or similar positions will be an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative when required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
