Job Overview – Payables Officer Position
This Payables Officer role represents a crucial position within Old Mutual’s finance department, focusing on ensuring the timely settlement of all company commitments. Key Responsibilities and Duties
Payment Processing Excellence
The Payables Officer will be responsible for processing a wide range of company payments, demonstrating versatility and expertise across multiple payment categories:
- Supplier and creditor payments management
- Agent and broker commissions, allowances, and bonus distributions
- Claims and withdrawal processing
- Redemption and disinvestment transactions
- Tax payment coordination
- Staff disbursement processing
- Fund-related payment management
- Payroll deduction payment processing
- Additional payment categories as assigned by management
Financial Reconciliation and Analysis
The role encompasses comprehensive reconciliation duties and analytical responsibilities:
- Reconciling various payables-related general ledger accounts
- Processing accruals and prepayments with precision
- Preparing detailed payables reports and conducting payment/expense analysis
- Serving as a bank agent for various transactions
- Conducting monthly reconciliation of supplier and stakeholder statements
- Managing remittance communications
- Executing additional duties as allocated by management
Requirements and Qualifications
Educational Background
Old Mutual seeks candidates with strong educational foundations in finance:
- NQF Level 7 qualification: Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Postgraduate Certificate (or equivalent)
- Degree in Finance or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification preferred
