Job Description
The Principal Accountant (Credit Control) reports to the Chief Finance Officer and will oversee KUTRRH’s credit management and revenue collection operations. The role ensures accurate billing, effective debt recovery, and reconciliation of patient, corporate, and insurance accounts. The candidate will collaborate with internal departments, external stakeholders, and insurance providers while maintaining compliance with statutory and hospital regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and implement hospital credit control policies and procedures, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with financial regulations.
- Ensure statutory compliance and adherence to hospital guidelines in all credit control and billing activities.
- Review and reconcile posting, adjustment, payment, and rejection transactions to maintain account accuracy and timely closure.
- Collaborate with finance teams to deliver efficient billing services and follow up for account reconciliation.
- Manage assigned accounts, monitoring billings, collections, contractual postings, adjustments, and payments.
- Resolve patient, insurance, and consultant queries regarding billing and outstanding balances professionally.
- Update financial systems with account activity, status, and anticipated reimbursement timelines.
- Develop service-level agreements (SLAs) and execute third-party contracts as delegated.
- Apply reminders and follow-up actions to ensure timely debt recovery and minimize aged accounts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a senior accounting or comparable role.
- Active professional membership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
- Completion of a recognized management or leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
- Proficiency in financial management software and computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

- Proven record in effective debt recovery, billing, and account reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of statutory financial compliance, audit procedures, and credit control best practices.
