About UNEP’s Disaster Risk Reduction Unit
The Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit, within UNEP’s Disasters and Conflicts Branch, leads innovative environmental solutions for disaster preparedness and response. The unit specializes in Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR) and works to implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
Key Responsibilities
Government and UN System Support
- – Provide technical assistance on Eco-DRR implementations
- – Support global and regional DRR engagements
- – Assist with Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR) Secretariat
- – Coordinate with internal UNEP divisions
Knowledge Development
- – Conduct research on Eco-DRR topics
- – Support report preparation and recommendations
- – Document and disseminate best practices
- – Develop training materials
- – Create communication content
Project Management
- – Support project design and scaling
- – Monitor implementation progress
- – Maintain partner relationships
- – Assist with partnership development
- – Track project outcomes
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- – Czech/Kenya nationality
- – Age between 18-29 years
- – Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- – 1 year relevant experience
- – Fluent English
