The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) is hiring a Programs Officer to support their mission of improving the lives of persons with disabilities in Kenya and beyond. This role will assist in managing and coordinating various programs within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Management

  •    – Strengthen capacity of target disability organizations
  •    – Support partners in work plan development and implementation
  •    – Coordinate project review meetings
  •    – Ensure timely communication and information flow

2. Project Implementation

  •    – Coordinate stakeholder training on inclusive recruitment and accommodations
  •    – Follow up on findings and action plans
  •    – Maintain up-to-date project documentation and reporting
  •    – Lead community mobilization and dialogue activities
  •    – Support internship placements

3. Coordination and Collaboration

  •    – Establish effective relationships with stakeholders
  •    – Develop disability inclusion frameworks with partners
  •    – Engage in advocacy for disability awareness
  •    – Strengthen referral networks at county level

4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  •    – Conduct project monitoring visits and supervision
  •    – Support documentation and reporting of project progress
  •    – Coordinate timely submission of reports
  •    – Ensure knowledge sharing with relevant stakeholders

5. Communication and Knowledge Management

  •    – Deliver APDK brand, media, and advocacy events
  •    – Provide strategic support for disability inclusion initiatives
  •    – Lead information gathering and dissemination
  •    – Safeguard children and adults at risk

Requirements:

  • – Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or Business Administration
  • – Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position, preferably with an NGO
  • – Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • – Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • – Strong integrity and leadership skills
  • – Problem-solving ability
  • – Commitment to APDK’s mandate, mission, vision, and values

Preferred Qualification:

  • – Diploma in Rehabilitation Services
