About HealthRight Kenya

We operate in 10 counties including Nairobi, Kilifi, Narok, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, and West Pokot.

We partner with local governments and are a key implementing partner on Global Fund and U.S. government health programs. If you’re searching for public health jobs in Kenya that make a real difference, this role could be for you.

Role Overview

The Project Assistants will support the planning and execution of TB-focused activities funded through the Global Fund. Working closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and county health teams, they will help improve TB case detection, patient support, and monitoring and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

1. TB Program Planning and Coordination

  • Coordinate community TB interventions such as health education, case finding, and treatment adherence support.
  • Build effective partnerships with County Health Management Teams (CHMTs), Sub-County Health Teams, and community-based organizations.
  • Support integration of TB program implementation with other healthcare services.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Support reporting aligned with donor-funded project requirements, especially those under the Global Fund.
  • Contribute to data-driven decision making through timely and accurate reporting.

3. Capacity Building and Support

  • Train and mentor Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and health workers in TB case management and data reporting.
  • Strengthen local teams’ capacity in performance-based funding approaches.

4. Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent HRK in local stakeholder meetings and healthcare technical working groups.
  • Facilitate community awareness and mobilization efforts to increase TB screening uptake.

5. Operational Support and Accountability

  • Ensure prudent use of project resources in compliance with HRK and Global Fund policies.
  • Support proposal writing and contribute to new health system strengthening initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Clinical Medicine, or a related health field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in implementing TB or HIV programs in Kenya. Previous experience with Global Fund or other donor-funded health projects is highly desirable.
  • M&E Skills: Proficiency in MoH reporting tools, data analysis, and professional training in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Capacity Building: Demonstrated experience in training and supervising community-based health workers.

Preferred Competencies

  • Strong planning and coordination skills
  • Experience with community health programs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote rural settings
