Scholarship Coordinator

SHOFCO (Shining Hope for Communities) is seeking a dedicated Scholarship Coordinator to manage their inaugural scholarship program in one of 15 target counties in Kenya. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable girls through education.

About SHOFCO:

SHOFCO is an internationally recognized grassroots organization impacting over 2.4 million people across 17 urban slums in Kenya. They provide critical services including healthcare, clean water, education, and economic empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Relationship Management:

• – Liaise with public schools for recruitment and support of scholarship recipients
• – Collaborate with SHOFCO Urban Network (SUN) to identify eligible students
• – Build partnerships with local organizations and government institutions

2. Scholar Support:

• – Implement mentorship and welfare programs for scholarship recipients
• – Prepare continuing students for school return
• – Onboard new scholarship students and their families

3. Monitoring and Evaluation:

• – Manage recruitment pipeline and data collection
• – Maintain up-to-date Scholarship Database
• – Ensure timely submission of necessary documents

4. Program Innovation:

• – Co-design recruitment, selection, and disbursement processes
• – Support implementation of “nudges” program for vulnerable students
• – Provide insights for program improvement

Requirements:

• – Minimum 2 years experience in educational programs or youth-focused community organizations
• – Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
• – High level of professionalism and attention to detail
• – Proactive, results-driven approach
