Job Description
The Secretarial Tutor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in secretarial studies and office administration. The tutor will prepare students for national certifications (KNEC and CDACC), ensure curriculum compliance, and mentor learners to achieve academic excellence and workplace readiness.
This position is ideal for professionals with a background in secretarial work and a passion for teaching in a structured TVET institution. It also suits tutors who understand the demands of competency-based education and have the flexibility to handle both theoretical and practical sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and practical sessions in Secretarial and Office Administration courses.
- Teach KNEC and CDACC-accredited programs, ensuring content accuracy and curriculum coverage.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and continuous assessment tests.
- Assess students’ academic performance, maintain records, and provide feedback.
- Guide students in project work, professional conduct, and industrial attachment preparation.
- Participate in curriculum development and institutional quality improvement programs.
- Contribute to departmental meetings, peer reviews, and staff training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Higher Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Office Administration from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching or industry experience in a related field.
- Proven ability to deliver both KNEC and CDACC-aligned training programs.
- Competence in delivering Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET).
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with TVETA and possession of KSTVET Certification in Pedagogy (Teaching Methodology).
- Experience working in a TVET institution or polytechnic environment.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching and assessments.
