Software Engineer III, Machine Learning, Google Research

Google is hiring a Software Engineer III focused on Machine Learning to join their Google Research team in Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• – Develop rapid prototypes to assess feasibility/performance of potential AI solutions
• – Design pipelines to take AI models from research to production-level systems for African organizations
• – Collaborate on sourcing, cleaning, preparing unique African datasets for AI training/evaluation
• – Build tools and APIs for researchers/stakeholders to interact with and understand AI model outcomes
• – Contribute to open-source AI initiatives in Africa, create documentation, provide training

Requirements:

• – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• – 2 years experience in software development using Python or other languages (1 year with advanced degree)
• – 2 years experience developing Machine Learning software, models, algorithms

Preferred Qualifications:

• – Master’s in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent experience
• – Experience with Computer Vision
• – Knowledge of linear algebra, statistics, calculus principles underlying AI algorithms
