Position: Tourism Driver Guide

Role Summary:
The Tourism Driver Guide plays a crucial role in introducing visitors to Ol Pejeta’s unique attractions. This position requires a passionate individual who can provide safe, knowledgeable, and engaging guided experiences, focusing on conservation messaging and creating a world-class integrated visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safely operate tourism vehicles while providing informative and engaging tours
2. Maintain alertness and practice cautious driving, adhering to speed limits
3. Make appropriate decisions in the field to meet visitor expectations and needs
4. Manage unexpected situations professionally, escalating issues when necessary
5. Ensure all necessary equipment for conservation activities is available and properly maintained
6. Monitor vehicle condition, reporting any issues promptly
7. Assist with additional tourism guiding services as required
8. Provide visitors with comprehensive information about Ol Pejeta’s activities and local attractions
9. Contribute positively to Ol Pejeta’s wildlife tourism income generation efforts
10. Assist with general tourism office duties, including campsite maintenance and vehicle servicing
11. Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and professionalism
12. Adhere to health and safety procedures and assist in emergencies
13. Conduct tours at the Morani Information Center, including for school groups
14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Tourism Field Officer
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- – Minimum Diploma in Tourism, Environmental Studies, or Natural Resource Management
- – KPSGA (Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association) certification
- – Valid TSV (Tourist Service Vehicle) driving license
Experience:
- – Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a tourism guide
Essential Skills:
- – Excellent communication abilities
- – Confidence and self-assurance
- – Professional appearance and demeanor
- – Strong teamwork orientation
- – Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
