Scholarship Description

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa is designed to empower academically gifted yet economically disadvantaged youth from Africa. The scholarship targets students who have faced barriers to accessing higher education—especially those affected by gender inequality, displacement, or disability.

The program covers the full cost of undergraduate education at USIU-Africa and equips recipients with leadership training, entrepreneurial skills, and career guidance. Upon graduation, scholars are expected to leverage their education to create meaningful impact in their home communities and contribute to Africa’s development.

Eligibility Requirements

Age and Demographic Criteria

  • Applicants must be youth under 30 years of age
  • Open to young women and men
  • Refugees, displaced youth, and youth living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply

Academic Qualifications

  • Must meet university admission standards as outlined by the Commission for University Education (CUE) in Kenya or its equivalent
  • Must be a first-time applicant for undergraduate studies
