SHOFCO SACCO is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Officer to join their Finance and Administration team in Nairobi. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial management of an impactful grassroots organization serving urban slum communities in Kenya.
About SHOFCO:
Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) is an internationally recognized organization impacting over 2.4 million people across 17 urban slums in Kenya. They provide critical services including healthcare, clean water, education, and economic empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reconciliation:
- – Reconcile bank statements, M-Pesa transactions, and pay bills
- – Produce schedules for shares, deposits, and loans
- – Perform variance analysis and reporting
2. Accounting Tasks:
- – Post refunds, rental income, and journals
- – Process check-offs and external member salary receipts
- – Verify and reconcile petty cash claims
- – Process payment vouchers
3. Reporting and Documentation:
- – Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the Accountant
- – Maintain files for external member correspondences
- – Ensure safe custody of bank statements
- – Maintain standing order register
4. Compliance:
- – File documents for statutory deductions (NSSF and NHIF)
- – Post external standing orders to members’ personal accounts
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- – CPA (K) certification and registered member of ICPAK in good standing
- – Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position
- – Membership in a relevant professional body (advantageous)
