Job Vacancy: Administrative Assistant – Meru Campus

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director, Meru Campus, the Administrative Assistant will perform a range of duties including:

  • Assist in the smooth implementation of administrative functions across departments.
  • Take accurate minutes during various university committee meetings and ensure timely dissemination.
  • Support departmental logistics and internal coordination of university activities.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to academic and administrative functions.
  • Handle internal and external correspondences and provide frontline support to students and staff.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor aligned to campus operations.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this administrative position at MKU Meru Campus, applicants must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of specialization, plus at least 2 years experience at Grade 7 level at MKU or in a comparable institution.
  • Higher National Diploma in a relevant field, with a minimum of 3 years experience at Grade 7 or equivalent position.
  • Diploma in a relevant field, accompanied by at least 5 years of experience at Grade 7 or in a similar administrative role in a recognized academic institution.

Preferred Attributes

  • Proficient in office software and database systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple administrative duties efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in previous roles.
