Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Role Overview
The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer role at Safarilink Aviation is responsible for carrying out and certifying aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with company authorizations, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer standards. This role supports both base and line maintenance operations and contributes directly to aircraft availability and flight safety.
Engineers in this position will perform routine, unscheduled, and corrective maintenance on Safarilink-maintained aircraft while ensuring all work meets approved specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and certify routine, unscheduled, and corrective aircraft maintenance on Dash 8-100/200/300/400 and Cessna 208B aircraft as permitted by company authorization.
- Assist in performing maintenance activities on other aircraft types operated or supported by Safarilink Aviation.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed in accordance with approved maintenance manuals, engineering procedures, and technical documentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with regulatory and safety requirements set by the Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
- Certify aircraft and components for return to service within the scope of held licenses and approvals.
- Support line maintenance and base maintenance operations as operational requirements demand.
- Supervise junior engineers and technicians when required, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to standards.
- Report technical defects accurately and participate in troubleshooting and fault rectification activities.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Head of Base Maintenance, Head of Line Maintenance, or Head of Workshop.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License.
- Holding Basic “A” and “C” (Gas Turbine Engine) licenses issued or recognized by KCAA.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in the aviation maintenance industry.
- Demonstrated experience in certifying aircraft maintenance work in a commercial aviation environment.
- Strong understanding of aviation safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure in operational environments while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Initial type training on Dash 8-100/200/300/400 and Cessna 208B aircraft.
- At least two (2) years of type-related practical experience in base and line maintenance as a certifying engineer.
- Experience working within an airline or approved maintenance organization (AMO).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret aircraft technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
