MSF East Africa Section is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Sociologist to join their Anthropology Unit. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality and accessibility of medical services in humanitarian and emergency contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • – Support the Head of Anthropology Unit in building capacity for MSF EA Section and MSF Ubuntu Directorate
  • – Conduct social and behavioral operational research and analyses
  • – Develop and implement training modules for health promotion and community engagement
  • – Contribute to strategic planning and positioning of the Anthropology Unit
  • – Assess and analyze social dynamics in medical emergency contexts
  • – Facilitate behavior change and communication training
  • – Coordinate field operational research on relevant thematic areas
  • – Engage in partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders and humanitarian forums

Requirements:

  • – Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sociology, Social Anthropology, Human Ecology, or related field
  • – Post-graduate degree or training in a related field
  • – Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit NGO work within public/emergency health contexts
  • – Proven capabilities in planning, organizing, and executing health-related operational research
  • – Experience in behavior change interventions
  • – Fluency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili (French or Arabic is a plus)
  • – Experience as a field researcher, ethnographer, or trainer
  • – Strong understanding of health-seeking behaviors and socio-cultural medical barriers
  • – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • – Ability to provide clear analysis of medical and social contexts
  • – In-depth understanding of health promotion models and practices
  • – Leadership skills in coordinating field research teams
  • – Proficiency in qualitative research methods
  • – Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders

Offer:

  • – One-year renewable, full-time contract based in Nairobi, Kenya
  • – Annual salary of EUR 27,145 (HQ Level 8)
