MSF East Africa Section is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Sociologist to join their Anthropology Unit. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality and accessibility of medical services in humanitarian and emergency contexts.
Key Responsibilities:
- – Support the Head of Anthropology Unit in building capacity for MSF EA Section and MSF Ubuntu Directorate
- – Conduct social and behavioral operational research and analyses
- – Develop and implement training modules for health promotion and community engagement
- – Contribute to strategic planning and positioning of the Anthropology Unit
- – Assess and analyze social dynamics in medical emergency contexts
- – Facilitate behavior change and communication training
- – Coordinate field operational research on relevant thematic areas
- – Engage in partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders and humanitarian forums
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sociology, Social Anthropology, Human Ecology, or related field
- – Post-graduate degree or training in a related field
- – Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit NGO work within public/emergency health contexts
- – Proven capabilities in planning, organizing, and executing health-related operational research
- – Experience in behavior change interventions
- – Fluency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili (French or Arabic is a plus)
- – Experience as a field researcher, ethnographer, or trainer
- – Strong understanding of health-seeking behaviors and socio-cultural medical barriers
- – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Technical Competencies:
- – Ability to provide clear analysis of medical and social contexts
- – In-depth understanding of health promotion models and practices
- – Leadership skills in coordinating field research teams
- – Proficiency in qualitative research methods
- – Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders

Offer:
- – One-year renewable, full-time contract based in Nairobi, Kenya
- – Annual salary of EUR 27,145 (HQ Level 8)
