Job Description

The Payment Operations Intern will support core payment workflows across CarePay’s digital ecosystem. This includes exposure to financial data analysis, mobile money operations, reconciliation processes, and dashboard monitoring. The position strengthens skills that are in high demand across fintech companies hiring in Nairobi, including SQL basics for finance, Excel for financial reporting, and payment system support.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the processing and validation of basic payment transactions within CarePay’s platform.
• Perform payment reconciliations, including provider till operations and wallet product support.
• Maintain accurate payment and financial records while supporting data entry, documentation, and filing.
• Extract financial and operational data using tools such as Metabase and Snowflake, supporting financial data analysis and reporting.
• Prepare key performance indicator (KPI) reports related to payment activities and dashboard insights.
• Monitor operational dashboards, identify anomalies, and escalate compliance issues as required.
• Provide administrative and operational support across the Finance and Operations teams.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and escalate issues outside defined workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Ongoing or recently completed Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Basic Excel skills and an understanding of spreadsheet-based financial reporting.
• Exposure to SQL or financial query tools is an added advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality.
• Interest in fintech, payments, mobile money operations, or digital financial systems.
• Basic analytical skills and the ability to interpret data.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using dashboard tools such as Metabase or Snowflake.
