Job Description

The Centre Manager position represents a pivotal leadership role within Bliss Healthcare’s operational structure. This position demands a highly skilled healthcare professional who can seamlessly blend clinical expertise with exceptional management capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the complete operational spectrum of their assigned medical centre, ensuring that both clinical and administrative functions operate at peak efficiency.

This role requires someone who can navigate the complex healthcare environment while maintaining focus on patient outcomes, staff satisfaction, and organizational objectives. The Centre Manager will serve as the primary liaison between corporate leadership and facility staff, ensuring that company policies and procedures are implemented effectively while addressing local operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Leadership

  • Oversee comprehensive medical centre operations, ensuring seamless healthcare service delivery within established operating hours
  • Implement strategic cost optimization initiatives including consumables management, fixed cost monitoring, variable expense control, and overhead reduction programs
  • Execute staff management protocols including attendance monitoring, absenteeism tracking, leave coordination, performance evaluation, and adherence to company policies
  • Ensure service delivery consistently exceeds patient expectations while meeting organizational standards as outlined in the operating manual
  • Maintain compliance with medical practices and regulatory requirements while establishing operational procedures

Clinical Excellence

  • Provide comprehensive patient clinical management including diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care coordination
  • Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation while providing patient and family education services
  • Lead emergency medical response as the designated emergency team leader, ensuring preparedness through regular emergency drill coordination
  • Oversee the collection, compilation, and submission of accurate clinical reports and required documentation
  • Monitor adherence to standardized hazardous waste disposal protocols and infection control measures

Quality Assurance and Development

  • Actively participate in healthcare quality improvement initiatives including Continuing Medical Education (CME), health education programs, rational prescription audits, mortality reviews, and medical camps
  • Conduct comprehensive mortality audits for all facility deaths in collaboration with unit staff, sharing findings with supervisors
  • Lead department development through Standard Operating Procedure creation, implementation, and review processes
  • Ensure optimal patient safety and quality healthcare delivery standards

Resource and Performance Management

  • Maintain adequate inventory of essential medical equipment, stationery, and pharmaceutical supplies
  • Ensure all required licenses remain current and properly displayed within the medical centre
  • Monitor facility performance metrics including revenue generation and profitability targets, implementing corrective measures as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in healthcare management roles within busy hospital environments
  • Current registration with relevant professional bodies, specifically the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
  • Valid Practice License in good standing
  • BLS/ACLS Certification where applicable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare industry regulations, standards, and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications in healthcare management or related fields
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and healthcare technology platforms
  • Demonstrated success in cost optimization and revenue enhancement initiatives
  • Previous experience in multi-site healthcare operations
  • Strong background in quality improvement and patient safety programs
  • Leadership training or management development program completion
