Cyber Security Incident Response Manager Job Description

This role is critical in strengthening Equity Bank’s security posture. The Cyber Security Incident Response Manager will lead the incident response function and coordinate activities to detect, assess, and contain cyber threats across the Equity Group. The role requires deep knowledge of threat analysis, incident handling, and digital forensics, with a clear focus on ensuring rapid recovery from cyberattacks.

Working closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), security operations teams, and cross-functional stakeholders, the successful candidate will contribute to building a resilient security framework and support continuous improvements in incident response processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Cyber Security Incident Response function across Equity Group subsidiaries.
  • Lead proactive threat detection, incident triage, containment, investigation, and recovery activities.
  • Coordinate post-incident analysis and reporting, including root cause analysis and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity incident response plans, playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage forensic investigations to support incident attribution and legal action when necessary.
  • Collaborate with SOC analysts, IT operations, and business units during incident handling.
  • Stay updated on global threat intelligence and ensure timely sharing of threat indicators.
  • Train and mentor internal stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices and incident protocols.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of the incident response program.
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities related to cybersecurity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of cybersecurity leadership experience, particularly in incident response or security operations.
  • Strong expertise in incident handling, digital forensics, and threat analysis.
  • Industry certifications such as GCIH, GCED, CISSP, CISM, or CISA are mandatory.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing incident playbooks and response frameworks.
  • Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate across departments during crises.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in the financial services or banking sector.
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools, threat intelligence platforms, and forensic tools.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements like GDPR, PCI DSS, or ISO 27001.
