MSF is seeking a Deputy General Director (DGD) to play a pivotal role in strategic leadership and guidance. The DGD will support the General Director in steering the social mission, crisis response, and development of the MSF OCBA network. This key position involves advising on and leading critical strategic areas to achieve OCBA’s goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Mission Alignment: Ensure the centrality of the social mission across all managed areas and align the General Directorate with key departments and units.
  • Crisis Response Leadership: Lead security and institutional crisis responses and represent the General Directorate in the Security Core Group.
  • Public Positioning and Mobilization: Oversee OCBA’s public stance on humanitarian crises, incorporating input from relevant departments and units.
  • Network Development: Strategically expand the OCBA network, build and maintain partnerships, and integrate new partners.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the next OCBA Strategic Plan and ensure Management Team discussions align with the social mission.
  • Representation: Represent OCBA in internal and external forums related to strategic areas and facilitate communication across the network.
  • Backup for Social Mission Issues: Act as a backup for the General Director on social mission matters.

Selection Criteria

  • – Extensive humanitarian field experience.
  • – Field experience with MSF.
  • – Minimum 5 years in relevant management positions.
  • – Experience in security and crisis management.
  • – Training and experience in organizational management.
  • – Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French and other relevant languages is highly valued.

Conditions

  • Location: Based in any MSF OCBA office, with frequent international travel.
  • Employment Type: Full-time position.
  • Commitment: Minimum 3-year commitment, up to a maximum of 6 years.
  • Salary: Annual gross salary at HQ 7A level, plus secondary benefits according to MSF OCBA Reward Policy, subject to local conditions.
  • Start Date: October 2024.
