The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Developer to enhance and maintain its web platforms, focusing on website migrations, the UNEP Starter Kit rollout, and improved AI-supported search functionalities. The role involves developing and maintaining Drupal websites, implementing technical requirements for migrations, and optimizing search and content discovery. The consultant will work closely with the Web Platforms team and external partners, reporting to the Head of Web Platforms. This position is based in Nairobi and is expected to last for six months.

Candidate Requirements:

• Advanced degree in computer science or related field
• 2+ years of web development experience
• Strong experience with PHP and Drupal
• Experience with website migrations
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, and Next.js
• Experience with RESTful APIs and web-platform integrations
• Strong knowledge of Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
• Experience with AI-supported search technologies
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD workflows
• Ability to apply web standards for security and accessibility
• Experience troubleshooting web-development issues
• Fluency in English
