Job Description
This opportunity is part of CTG’s pre-vetted talent pool for agriculture and food security jobs in emergency and development contexts. As a Food Security Analyst, you will provide technical support to international NGOs, UN agencies, and government partners engaged in agricultural resilience, food systems transformation, and nutrition-sensitive programming.
You will be expected to work in fragile and climate-stressed countries, conducting on-the-ground assessments and contributing to policy dialogue that helps address food insecurity and agricultural disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
- Conduct food security assessments through both primary data collection and secondary research
- Analyze the impact of climate shocks, conflict, and governance gaps on food systems
- Evaluate agricultural value chains and constraints to market access
Strategy & Policy Development
- Develop strategies for agricultural resilience aligned with national priorities
- Design interventions such as flood/drought-resistant cropping systems and smart irrigation solutions
- Draft policy recommendations that promote sustainable agriculture and food security
Coordination & Reporting
- Collaborate with government ministries, UN bodies (FAO, WFP), and local implementing partners
- Deliver technical reports supported by clean data and practical insights
- Support coordination among field teams, monitoring units, and stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Food Security, or related fields (essential)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food security and agriculture programs (emergency or development)
- Experience in data analysis using IPC/Cadre Harmonisé methodology
- Strong understanding of sustainable agriculture and climate-smart practices
- Fluent in English (essential)
Preferred Qualifications
- Field experience in fragile, conflict-affected, or post-disaster settings (especially in Africa, MENA, or Asia)
- Familiarity with SPSS, STATA, GIS, or other analytical tools
- Fluency in French, Arabic, or Spanish (desirable)
- Experience contributing to national or international food security policy frameworks
