Job Description
This is an entry and training grade for the Internal Audit cadre. Officers appointed to this position will work under the direct supervision of senior auditors and support the execution of internal audit activities aimed at improving transparency, compliance, and efficiency within public institutions. Key Responsibilities
- Vouching sample financial transactions as part of audit investigations and verifications.
- Assisting in the preparation of internal audit engagement plans and work schedules.
- Documenting the proceedings and action points of audit entry and exit meetings.
- Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting audit-related data and statistics.
- Preparing audit working papers and reports as per standard audit procedures.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for appointment to the grade of Internal Auditor, a candidate must have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields from a recognized university in Kenya:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Commerce
- Business Administration
- OR a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline plus:
- Certification in one of the following:
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) II
- Certified Public Accountants (CPA) II
- Or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with internal audit methodologies and tools.
- Basic understanding of government financial regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit management software.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and report-writing skills.
Benefits and Compensation
- Basic Salary: Ksh 41,420 – Ksh 57,230 per month (CSG 10)
- House Allowance: Ksh 9,600 – Ksh 16,500 per month
- Commuter Allowance: Ksh 5,000 per month
- Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
- Leave Allowance: As per Civil Service policy
