Junior-Level Backend Developer Job Description

The Junior-Level Backend Developer (.NET) will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable RESTful APIs that support Equity Bank’s internal systems and customer-facing digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, mobile engineers, DevOps specialists, and product owners to deliver high-performance applications that align with the Bank’s digital transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core frameworks.
• Develop reusable backend modules and libraries for use across multiple platforms and services.
• Work closely with frontend and mobile development teams to define API contracts and ensure smooth data flow.
• Design and implement secure, scalable, and optimized database solutions using SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB.
• Support authentication and authorization protocols using OAuth2 and JWT tokens.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate APIs into CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments (Azure or AWS).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in backend development using C# and .NET technologies.
• Solid understanding of ASP.NET Core, MVC architecture, and dependency injection.
• Experience building and consuming REST and SOAP web services.
• Database management skills using SQL Server, Oracle, and NoSQL tools like MongoDB.
• Proficiency with API security standards, including OAuth and JWT.
• Basic understanding of Microservices architecture, gRPC, and messaging systems like Kafka.
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices including Git, CI/CD, and version control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (K8s).
• Experience deploying applications to Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Exposure to Agile project management tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps Boards.
