About the Role

The Manager, Finance will oversee internal financial operations, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, expenditure control and resource utilization. The role also provides financial management information to support routine decision-making while ensuring compliance with approved policies, accounting standards and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Accounting

• Ensure that costs are maintained and effectively controlled at acceptable levels and advise managers on Company standards.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of sales, purchases, expenditure and receipts.
• Formulate and maintain an up-to-date register of the Company’s assets and liabilities.
• Ensure timely availability of management control information for routine decision-making.
• Maintain records of all Company insurance and taxation activities.
• Ensure timely completion of monthly trial balances and preparation of financial statements.
• Assess the financial situation of the Company and provide relevant financial management input.

Budgeting, Planning and Financial Control

• Interpret the Company corporate plan and spearhead preparation of the annual budget.
• Prepare budgets and control expenditure in accordance with approved requirements.
• Plan, direct and coordinate internal financial operations.
• Ensure effective use of Company resources.
• Establish and direct financial operating procedures.
• Plan and direct daily financial operations.
• Develop and ensure adherence to financial accounting principles in consultation with the General Manager, Finance Services.

Risk Management and Compliance

• Work jointly with the Internal Auditor to ensure sufficient controls are implemented to prevent fraud and related malpractices.
• Ensure Company policies and guidelines are understood and adhered to.
• Ensure Company assets are properly accounted for and secured.
• Identify and address causes of failure to achieve established standards and financial objectives.

Leadership and Staff Management

• Supervise departmental staff and participate in their discipline, appraisal and counselling.
• Provide strategic financial leadership and business guidance across the Finance function.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in Strategic Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation or a related field.
• Must be a CPA (K).
• Must be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience, including five years in a senior management position.
• Completion of a management course lasting not less than four weeks.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Computer Assisted Audit Tools and Techniques.
• Strong analytical ability with proven managerial and leadership skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
