Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine laboratory tests accurately and promptly, including specimen collection, processing, analysis, and reporting.
Ensure proper patient identification, specimen handling, storage, referral, and disposal in line with approved procedures.
Maintain laboratory quality assurance and quality control standards and promptly report critical results, errors, and incidents.
Operate, clean, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment, ensuring timely reporting of faults and servicing needs.
Manage laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies, including stock monitoring, proper storage, and expiry-date checks.
Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers, test results, statistics, and routine reports, including electronic health information systems where applicable.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention, laboratory safety, PPE use, and biomedical waste management.
Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional, ethical, and safeguarding standards.
Work collaboratively with clinical and other health facility staff to support effective patient care and referrals.
Participate in outreach, health screening, quality improvement, audits, and other dispensary activities as required.
Provide guidance to interns, students, or support staff assigned to the laboratory.
Undertake continuous professional development and remain compliant with relevant regulatory and professional requirements.
