About the Role

The Pharmacy Lecturer will support teaching, student assessment, curriculum implementation, research, and academic development within the relevant discipline. The role also involves supporting students through academic guidance, mentoring, and supervision of research activities.

Depending on deployment, the position may also involve curriculum development responsibilities, including reviewing policies, standards, systems, and processes and supporting staff in curriculum development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach and evaluate relevant subjects within the discipline area.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson notes, and lesson plans.
  • Assess students in clinical areas.
  • Guide and counsel students on academic matters.
  • Induct new trainers and trainee lecturers.
  • Implement the competence-based curriculum.
  • Conduct research within the area of specialization.
  • Supervise students undertaking research projects.
  • Develop at least three teaching manuals.
  • Develop and review policies, standards, systems, and processes relevant to curricula when deployed as a Curriculum Officer.
  • Mentor and coach staff on curriculum development.
  • Conduct basic, applied, and action research to address knowledge gaps related to curriculum development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Valid practicing licence from the relevant regulatory body, where applicable.
  • Registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
