Job Description
The Plumbing Trainer will be responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on training in plumbing systems, maintenance, installations, and safety practices. The ideal candidate will have a combination of teaching experience and real-world industry skills. You’ll work closely with students to help them master both theory and practical competencies required in the field of plumbing and pipefitting.
This role is essential in strengthening Kenya’s skilled labor force by nurturing job-ready plumbers through practical demonstrations, performance assessments, and mentorship. If you are passionate about vocational education and shaping future artisans, this opportunity is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver well-structured lessons in plumbing systems, techniques, tools, and safety procedures.
- Conduct practical training sessions and workshops to enhance hands-on skills in installations, repairs, and system diagnostics.
- Develop and implement training plans, course outlines, and instructional materials in line with national and institutional standards.
- Assess student progress through assignments, practical exams, and competency-based evaluations.
- Maintain workshop tools and ensure safe use of plumbing equipment during training sessions.
- Support students in career development by providing industry insights and technical mentorship.
- Participate in curriculum reviews and contribute to continuous improvement in plumbing education delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Plumbing or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Technical Education or Pedagogy qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven teaching or instructional experience in a technical or vocational institution.
- Practical field experience in plumbing installations and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Education, Construction, or a related field (highly encouraged).
- TVETA trainer registration or ability to obtain one.
- Familiarity with competency-based education frameworks (CBET).
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate learners in both theoretical and practical settings.
